Go aids Parañaque’s fire-affected families
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues to deliver assistance to disaster victims as his team visited Parañaque City last Friday, 18 November and assisted 12 families whose houses were damaged by a recent fire incident.
In his video message, Go expressed his optimism that the Bureau of Fire Protection will have improved capability to efficiently address fire-related incidents as it is currently undergoing a modernization program pursuant to Republic Act 11589.
Under the Act, which was primarily authored and co-sponsored by Go, BFP is also tasked to conduct monthly fire prevention campaigns and information drives in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and local government units.
Go’s outreach team held the distribution at Palanyag Gymnasium where they handed out masks, snacks, grocery packs, umbrellas and balls for basketball to every affected household. They also provided a cellular phone to a select beneficiary.
Moreover, a team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development extended financial assistance to the affected families.
As part of his commitment to ensure that even underprivileged Filipinos get the medical attention they need, Senator Go encouraged the beneficiaries to visit the Malasakit Center at the Ospital ng Parañaque or any of the other 30 Malasakit Centers across Metro Manila.
The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 mandates all Department of Health-run hospitals, and the Philippine General
Hospital in Manila City, to provide necessary assistance to particularly poor and indigent patients by covering various patient services and fees. To date, there are 152 Malasakit Centers nationwide that have helped millions of poor and indigent Filipinos.
The senator likewise supported the construction of two Super Health Centers in the city that will be located in Barangays La Huerta and Moonwalk.
These Super Health Centers shall offer basic medical services, such as database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: X-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine.
