Fake eArrival Card ruins country’s reputation, solon says
Senator Pia Cayetano warned the public anew about fake eArrival cards and lambasted the people that are taking advantage of the vulnerability of the pandemic situation.
Cayetano was pertaining to a bogus website offering an online application for a “Philippines eArrival Card” where after filling up the form, clients are being directed to a payment option.
The senator shared her own daughter was victimized by the fake website www.ph-entryform. com which appears on top of other websites every time “earrival card Philippines” is searched on Google and requires registrants to pay US$70 for a copy of the card.
“This is something that I feel ruins our reputation as a country, makes it very difficult for tourists and even balikbayans and traveling Filipinos to have faith in our country when these things happen,” Cayetano said in a privilege speech.
The eArrival card should serve as an online health declaration and contact tracing platform allowing a convenient and seamless movement of international travelers — from the country of origin to arrival at the chosen destination in the Philippines — amid the prevailing global health crisis.
Cayetano emphasized that acquiring eArrival Card in the Philippines must be free of charge for all Filipinos and tourists.
She added that these concerns must raise awareness and vigilance.
“So that is it. The purpose of this speech is to bring this to the attention of our colleagues, of the public. Again, as far as the government agencies are concerned, they already know, but to also ask them to be very vigilant about these things because every day that passes that that ad is there, it’s deceiving Filipinos and foreigners entering our country,” Cayetano said.
The country’s e-Arrival Card can be accessed only via https://onehealthpass.com.ph for free. Travelers must register 72 hours before departure and are required to submit travel details, biographical information, vaccination status, and health declarations.
