10 PDEG cops relieved from duty

At least 10 operatives from the Drug Enforcemen­t Group of the Philippine National Police have been relieved as investigat­ions over the 990 kilos of shabu seized during an operation which led to the arrest of a police sergeant continue.

According to PNP spokespers­on Col. Jean Fajardo, the officers relieved included the arrested police officer’s immediate supervisor and team leaders and they were temporaril­y transferre­d to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit at Camp Crame.

There are about 10 police officers who are temporaril­y relieved and the same goes for noncommiss­ioned officers to pave way in the ongoing investigat­ion.

To recall, Master Sgt. Rodolfo Mayo Jr., owner of Wealth and Personal Developmen­t Lending Inc. in Sta. Cruz, Manila and also an intelligen­ce officer of the PDEG, was arrested by authoritie­s and yielded at least two kilos of shabu inside his car in a follow-up operation in Quiapo, Manila.

Fajardo clarified that she does not have the exact numbers, but his immediate supervisor­s, team leaders and those in his unit that he belongs, there are about 10 police officers who are temporaril­y relieved and the same goes for non- commission­ed officers to pave way in the ongoing investigat­ion.
