5-year dev’t plan to key $130-B exports
A more aggressive Philippine Export Development Plan will help the country’s largest group of exporters achieve $130 billion growth target by 2027 despite economic headwinds, according to Philippine Exporters Association president Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr.
“The next Philippine Export Development Plan is more aggressive, highlighting technology and stronger collaborations towards innovation, skills upgrading, and integration to help counter the negative impacts of issues such as red tape, supply chain disruptions, increasing business costs, climate change, and other challenges,” Ortiz-Luis Jr. said.
Supporting Philexport’s fearless forecast is Dan Lachica, president of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Inc.
Earlier, Lachica said he remains bullish on the 10 percent growth of Philippine electronics exports for this year due to the rising demand globally.
Likewise, the Department of Trade and Industry and Board of Investment are optimistic for the country’s export industry despite the World Trade Organization’s projection of global trade slowdown this year.
Exporters week
Meanwhile, the DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau, in partnership with the Export Development Council PHILEXPORT, is set to hold the National Exporters’ Week on 1 to 7 December. This year’s congregation of exporters attending NEW focuses on discussions and activities that will pave the way for breakthroughs for Philippine-based exporters and the country.
NEW aims to emphasize the need to harness the experience, expertise, and knowledge of both public and private stakeholders in international trade and the need to build on their competitive advantage by pursuing innovation and diversification and cultivating a competitive mindset among all stakeholders.
“The thematic discussions and activities during 2022 NEW aim to capacitate Philippine exporters, particularly MSMEs, as they go through their exporting journey from developing their products and services, creating their marketing and promotion strategies, and delivering to their customers.
