Ledesma new PhilHealth acting chief

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has named Emmanuel Rufino Ledesma Jr. as the acting president and chief executive officer of PhilHealth, Malacañang announced on Thursday.

Ledesma took his oath before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin earlier in the day, the Office of the Press Secretary said in a statement.

The state health insurer was previously led by officer-in-charge Eli Dino Santos.

“Ledesma is also a member of PhilHealth’s expert panel and board of directors,” the OPS said.

Ledesma was president and CEO of the Power Sector Assets and Liabilitie­s

Management Corporatio­n.

PSALM is the government corporatio­n tasked to manage the privatizat­ion of generation assets, Investment Priorities Plan contracts, and other non-power assets.

He was appointed by the late President Benigno Aquino III to PSALM in 2010, his first post in the public sector.

Meanwhile, PhilHealth is mandated to administer the National Health Insurance Program, which aims to provide health insurance coverage for all Filipinos.

Under the proposed national budget for 2023, the government has allocated over P100 billion for the insurance program to ensure affordable and inclusive healthcare.
