North Cotabato farmers receive boost
The Department of Agrarian Reform announced that farmers in North Cotabato are set to receive a hauling truck to help them boost their cardava banana agri-enterprise operations.
According to Arakan River Irrigators Credit Cooperative chairman Bonifacio Calayco Jr., the DAR’s offering can generate more savings, increase the income of the cooperative and provide additional benefits for its members.
He also said that they can now save for its operational expenses because they do not have to rent vehicles to transport products to the processing plant.
The provision of farm machinery is in line with the directive of DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III to improve the livelihood of the farmers through the Linking Smallholder Farmers to Markets with Microfinance project of the agency.
