K-pop, US R&B stars, Aussie electronic duo to headline Cebu music festival
The first Wavy Baby Festival, mounted by James Reid’s Careless Music label, will be held on 13 and 14 January 2023 at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City
Korean singer Sunmi, formerly with Wonder Girls, and American R&B artist Pink Sweat$ are coming to Cebu in 2023 to perform at the first Wavy Baby Festival.
The two-day event, mounted by James Reid’s Careless Music label, will be held on 13 and 14 January 2023 at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
It comes just in time for the return of Sinulog — regarded as the country’s grandest religious-cultural feast, held every third Sunday of January, that was canceled in 2021 due to the pandemic.
“Careless is proud to present the line-up for the Wavy Baby Festival. Sinulog, we comin’ for you!”, Reid, the label’s co-founder, posted on Twitter 25 November.
Wavy Baby’s lineup also includes Korean pop-rock band The Rose, Australian electronic duo Bag Raiders, and American producer DJ Yultron.
Among the Filipino artists in the roster are Ben&Ben, December Avenue, Franco, A-team, Issa, and Cebu’s homegrown talents The Sundown, Mandaue Nights, Sepiatimes, Three Legged Men, and Wonggoys.
Careless’ own acts likewise performing are Reid himself, Lesha, Jolianne, Masssiah, SOS (formerly She’s Only Sixteen), Destiny Rogers, and August Wahh.
The organizers also teased two more names — one is said to be the headliner.
Ticket information has yet to be announced but will be available “ASAP,” Careless posted on social media. Users of e-wallet app Maya can purchase limited pre-sale tickets starting 26 November.
