ZCMC bares achievemen­ts, plans

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Zamboanga City Medical Center outlined yesterday their achievemen­ts this year in medical services and infrastruc­ture developmen­t inside the ZCMC compound as a regional medical center in the region.

ZCMC chief of the hospital Dr. Afdal B. Kunting revealed yesterday that the ZCMC management has adopted more precise medical services for the people of Zamboanga City and the region including residents of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces who needs medical services from the hospital.

Dr. Kunting revealed that the hospital is now equipped with the most modern and state-of-the-art medical equipment to address patients needing medical attention from a tertiary government hospital.

He made the disclosure during the 4th quarter Ronda de Salud sa ZCMC yesterday morning. The ZCMC is a tertiary hospital in the region with an 800-bed capacity.

Kunting emphasized that the hospital is being manned by competent medical experts in their field of specializa­tion backed by highly trained nurses to attend to the needs of patients.

Kunting also revealed that they plan to adopt a new system of surgery called “ambulatory surgery.”

Dr. Kunting explained that ambulatory surgery is a new type of surgery approach surgeons can perform on patients in the morning and allow the patient to go home in the afternoon.

He said the outpatient department of the hospital would be renovated next year to house the new system of surgery for patients. The method is the newest in the surgery world, he said.
