AFP, Lions Club partner on humanitarian, socio-civic activities
The Armed Forces of the Philippines, through its Civil Military Operations Group-Philippine Navy, and the Lions Club International Jurisdiction of Multi-District 301 Philippines recently committed to partner on various humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and socio-civic activities to promote sustainable peace and development in the country.
Philippine Air Force Brigadier General Fermin M. Carangan and MD 301 Council of Governors chair Frederick Lim signed the memorandum of understanding in Taguig City.
“The MoU’s objectives and provisions will be focused on disaster response training for first responders, to be conducted in the jurisdiction areas of District 301 Philippines where there are Lion Districts in Luzon,
Visayas and Mindanao, and where there are camps and bases that can help conduct and undertake the disaster response training,” former military officer and Lions Club 301-A2 District Governor Amado Sanglay said.
‘This commendable partnership... supports our common goal of nation-building,’ AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro said.
In a message, AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro hailed the new partnership and said it would prove beneficial to Filipinos.
“This noble undertaking reinforces the AFP’s efforts to collaborate with stakeholders for socioeconomic activities. Together, we will reach a realistic synergy in doing things that will touch the lives of many Filipinos, particularly in depressed areas affected by armed conflict.”
“Our relentless efforts and acts of service in times of calamities and disasters pave the way for the successful pursuit of our partnership,” added the AFP chief. “On behalf of the men and women of the AFP, my sincerest appreciation to the Lions Club International for this commendable partnership, which supports our common goal of nation-building.”
