The Dance Showdown went on in the evening.
BANNA, Ilocos Norte — In the afternoon of Friday, 24 March, students and townsfolks gathered on the streets of this town to witness the street dance competition that showcased the talent, culture and heritage of the province celebrating the Panagbuos festival.
This Festival of Banna Town refers to the gathering of eggs of weaver ants called buos, an exotic food that can be cooked as a local delicacy.
The Dance Showdown went on afterwards in the evening. It is an interpretative dance competition that shows the process of collecting weaver eggs and cooking them accompanied by a little story, to begin with.
Mayor Mary Chrislyn Co-Abadilla, in a speech, said that she might be the proudest and happiest mayor in the whole province of Ilocos Norte wherein their fiesta is always star-studded as they are being supported by their Dep-Ed family in any endeavor that the LGU is offering in service for their towns folks.
“I hope that the values that you learned throughout the competition will help you become better version of yourselves. I would like to congratulate all talented and hardworking clusters and I wish you all the best for your expected performance,” Co-Abadilla says referring to the clusters who joined the street dance and dance showdown competition.
Meanwhile, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, who was also in attendance said that it is nice to see everyone after so many years of being in the pandemic. “I am so glad that we can come together and celebrate our youth and enjoy ourselves in this fiesta,” Manotoc says.
He also pledged his support to the Municipality of Banna and all the youth in Banna. “I am one with you, therefore, we have scholarships in PGIN including the new Arts Scholarship, just a few years ago, we added this for all types of artists,” Manotoc said.
