Solar lights, school supplies, classroom materials for Dumagat schools

-

Insular Foundation has extended a helping hand to five public elementary schools whose students are mostly coming from the indigenous people of Dumagat. The beneficiary schools Cinabuan Elementary School, Nayon Elementary School, Magata-Manggahan Elementary School, Mamuyao Elementary School and Sto. Nino Integrated School are located in remote areas of Tanay, Rizal.

The corporate social responsibility arm of Insular Life turned over solar power lights and batteries, classroom materials and school supplies to these last-mile schools of the Department of Education.

The five beneficiary elementary schools are located in remote areas of Tanay, Rizal.

Insular Foundation Executive Director Ana Maria Soriano said the assistance to the elementary schools came from the proceeds of the InLife Race for the Extra Mile held last year.

“The race promoted physical fitness through walking, running or cycling and donation to charity among InLife employees, financial advisors, agency leaders and policyholders, InLife Health Care employees, and Insular Foundation partners. For the race participants’ total distance coverage of 60,704 kilometers, the Foundation provided fund matching of P900,000 in total cash donation for two beneficiaries, one of which is DepEd Tanay, Rizal’s last-mile schools,” Soriano said.

“Beyond the quantitative results of the InLife Race for the Extra Mile, this fitness for charity challenge was able to support the

Foundation’s focus on education for less privileged learners,” she added.

DepEd Rizal Province’s School Governance and Operations Division Chief Ferdinand Pascual expressed appreciation to InLife for being their reliable partner and consistent supporter.

District Supervisor of Tanay, also said Insular Foundation’s assistance will go a long way toward helping their students.

“Sincerest thanks and gratitude to Insular Foundation. Hindi ninyo kami binitawan at inabot ninyo kami kahit na kami ay nasa malayo (You were able to reach us even if we were

in a remote area). Your assistance in the form of solar power lights and school materials is very helpful to our students, especially those located in far-flung areas and upland schools,” Cristo said.

Analiza Patena, Principal of Mamuyao

Elementary School, said Insular Foundation is God’s instrument to fulfill their needs. “The five upland schools of Tanay are lucky to be chosen as your beneficiaries. We feel blessed, and rest assured that your donations will be handled with care,” she shared.
