MORE Power’s new substation boosts Iloilo City grid
MORE Electric and Power Corp. of Enrique Razon Jr. recently upped its commitment to providing for Iloilo City’s power needs with the inauguration of its 30/36MVA Megaworld substation in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were Razon Jr., Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, and Kevin Andrew Tan, CEO of Megaworld’s parent company Alliance Global, along with city officials and officers of MORE Power.
“We are proud to be part of Iloilo’s journey toward progress and will remain committed to contributing to the region’s economic and social development,” Razon
said, whose power company took over as Iloilo City’s electricity supplier in February 2020.
Treñas thanked MORE Power for its efforts to provide Iloilo City with stable, reliable and efficient power services, especially during the pandemic, while Roel Castro, president and CEO of MORE Power, touted the new substation as a “state-of-the-art” facility that will ensure “very reliable, adequate and stable” power supply to the city.
According to Iloilo Today, “the Megaworld substation is the first permanent substation project of MORE Power since it started operations in February 2020, and it is set to significantly boost Iloilo city’s power capacity and reliability, making it more attractive to potential investors.”
In particular, the substation is expected to support the power requirements of Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park, which hosts most of the city’s top business process outsourcing companies, and other districts such as the Ayala Atria Estate, SM Complex, and the Mandurriao residential district.
“With the substation now operational, the business park and its surrounding areas will have a more stable and reliable power supply, making it an ideal location for businesses looking to invest in Iloilo City,” MORE Power said in an earlier press statement.
