Adamson University turned to rookie Trisha Tubu to bounce back from an opening set setback in a come-from-behind, 11-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22, victory over University of Santo Tomas to start the second round of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The lefty opposite spiker dropped 21 points to lead the Lady Falcons to their second straight win for a 6-2 win-loss record at solo second spot.

Tubu hammered in 15 spikes including the match-clinching off-the-block hit and had a personal-best six kill blocks as Adamson completed an elimination round sweep of UST, which slid to 5-3 card.

However, Lady Falcons coach Jerry Yee admitted that the Tigresses put up a tougher fight compared to their previous meeting.

“It’s harder this time because we know they’re not an easy team to beat. Good thing we still got this win,” Yee said whose wards swept UST in the first round.

“In the first set we kind of lack effort. But the team responded in the second and fourth sets.”
