President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured Cebuanos over the weekend that his administration would continuously back the province’s progress amid a growing economy.

In his speech at the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas or OPAV in Cebu City on Saturday, Marcos said his government is actively facilitating the execution of significant infrastructure ventures to expedite the province’s advancement and that of the entire Philippines.

He said these sectors encompass agriculture, energy, and micro, small, and medium enterprises or MSMEs.

He told the people of Cebu that the government is on track to fulfill the promises made during the campaign, highlighting that the Philippines is currently experiencing remarkable economic growth and positioning itself as “the fastest-growing country in the world.”

Campaign vows being fulfilled

“You have seen it, and we are expediting and hastening many things in implementing changes, doing all of this, addressing all the problems you see. Precisely, all of those things that we were saying during the campaign,” he said.

“Our direction is right. Our thoughts are correct. The things we fought for are right. We fought for them because it wasn’t easy. Of course, no campaign is easy,” he added.

Marcos Jr. acknowledged the ongoing tasks that needed to be accomplished and encouraged everyone to stay organized and continue the work they started.

He welcomed any suggestions and urged the local communities to reach out and communicate with the national government to address any issues promptly.

He emphasized the significance of the partnership between the region and the national government, saying, “That’s why I’m here; I’m not just the president in Manila; I am also your president.”

The President visited Cebu to participate in the unveiling of the Pier 88 seaport project in Liloan.

Pier 88 is set to function as a transportation hub for passenger ferries and cargo ships, playing a crucial role as an economic gateway for Northern Cebu.
