President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday announced the opening to visitors of the Goldenberg and Teus mansions, two historic guest houses turned presidential museums near Malacañang.

Marcos Jr. said opening the mansions to the public would promote Philippine history and educate visitors about the country’s past leaders.

Initially purchased by former First Lady Imelda Marcos, the Goldenberg Mansion had undergone extensive rehabilitation under renowned national artist-architect Leandro Locsin.

Marcos Jr. expressed enthusiasm over ongoing efforts to restore the mansions to their former glory, highlighting their architectural beauty and significance.

“The last person to own it before my mother bought it was a Goldenberg. And that is why it’s called the Goldenberg Mansion. It was used as a guest house and for some formal functions,” Marcos said, addressing a crowd on the balcony.

Valentin Teus built the other mansion for his family in the last quarter of the 19th century. It was restored by British designer Ronnie Laing in 1975 and after its renovation, it served as a guest house during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

The Goldenberg Mansion will house a Presidential Museum showcasing the lives and achievements of all past Philippine presidents.

Each president’s tenure will be accompanied by a brief description of the circumstances that led to their ascent to power and the key accomplishments during their presidency.

The Teus Mansion dedicated a corner to the portraits of the First Ladies who played a pivotal role in shaping both the presidency and the nation as a whole.

The President emphasized the educational value of the museum and reassured the public that admission would be free of charge.

Those who opt for a guided tour may make a reservation by contacting Malacañang through the e-mail address sosec@ malacanang.gov.ph or telephone number (02) 8735-6080.
