Director blasts Bb Pilipinas over ALAMAT snub: ‘Someday, all of you will not dare cut them off’

Filmmaker Jason Paul Laxamana was dismayed that the boy band Alamat’s performance at the recent Binibining Pilipinas 2023 coronation night was not included in the telecast.

Laxamana, Alamat’s creative director, wrote on Twitter: “Someday, all of you will not dare cut them off. Someday.”

Alamat’s appearance was omitted despite the fact that the P-pop group, along with established performers like Vice Ganda and Darren Espanto, were earlier revealed as the featured artists in the official social media accounts of the Binibining Pilipinas event.

During a break in the last two competition rounds, Alamat entertained the crowd with their songs “Maharani,” “Say U Love Me,” “Sa Panaginip Na Lang,” “Aswang” and “Gayuma.”

The glaring snub of the group in the telecast riled up Alamat’s loyal following as well.

One dismayed fan said on Twitter: “The audacity to announce that alamat will perform in @RealBbPilipinas, making many magiliws watch just for them. turns out, not 1 song was included in the live. you took advantage of the boys’ talent. the amount of disrespect is disappointing!! you did the very low of the lows.”

Another fan fumed: “They really don’t deserve to be treated like that. Like ever. It’s sad, frustrating, and annoying.”

The six-member Alamat consists of Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomas, R-Ji and Alas.

In April 2023, the Canadian pop culture portal MsMojo hailed the boy band among the “foreign groups stepping into the global spotlight,” along with fellow P-pop groups SB19 and BGYO.

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. has yet to comment on Laxamana and the fans’ complaint.
