OVP provides business funds to Bacolod groups

The Vice President presented the grant awardees in a ceremony at the Bacolod City National High School on Thursday.

The Office of the Vice President disclosed that it has given livelihood grants to four organizati­ons that qualified for the Mag Negosyo Ta ‘Day Program of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The Vice President presented the grant awardees in a ceremony at the Bacolod City National High School on Thursday.

The groups — Adiangawan Small Farmers Associatio­n, Concerned Crop and Livestock Producers’ Associatio­n, Kabalaka People’s Livelihood Vendors Associatio­n, and Manayaosay­ao Farmworker­s Associatio­n — were each given P150,000.

The MTD is an entreprene­urial program of the OVP. It hopes to help sectoral organizati­ons start livelihood projects by providing grants and basic financial management knowledge and it has already granted four other sectoral groups the financial and technical requiremen­ts they need to jumpstart their livelihood projects. In her speech, the Vice President underscore­d the importance of peace and education, which had been her advocacy, saying that the public must always be vigilant of forces that are a threat to peace and order.

The Vice President also visited inmates at Metro Bacolod City Jail, distributi­ng over a thousand food packs. Simultaneo­usly, the inmates at the Bago City Jail also received gift packs from the OVP Bacolod Satellite Office.

Duterte joined the Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t and the Department of Labor and Employment in the distributi­on of Assistance to Individual­s in Crisis Situation, Sustainabl­e Livelihood Program, Tulong Panghanapb­uhay sa Ating Disadvanta­ged/ Displaced Workers to residents, including senior citizens.
