Last year was when Filipinos ate more and gave more to others. Food operators aptly tested the waters on how well they can continue to do business while reaching out to the victims of the devastated areas of Visayas. Amidst the banning of food photographs and selfies in Facebook, during the post-Yolanda mourning period in November, restaurants launched their ‘meals for a cause’ events and charity activities.

Some that are praiseworthy and clear standouts were the Cook

Out 2 Help Out (buy a burger to help rebuild homes in Visayas) and Tulong-Tulong sa Pilipinas (a series of fundrasing dining events done in various locations spearheaded by NY-based restaurateur Amy Besa).
