The Oranges of Oz

F&B World - - EDITOR’S NOTE - Photo by PATRICK SEGOVIA

It seems like Filipinos can’t get enough of oranges. The Australian Trade Commission can attest to this, noting the surprising demand and 300 percent growth of citrus exports into the country since last year. The two varieties of Australian oranges—the seedless and easy- to- peel Washington Navel and the seasonal juicy Valencias— aren’t the only ones to blame for this; the Australian Embassy and the Citrus Australia group, which have been actively promoting their produce, should also be given credit. Australian oranges were hard to come by before due to their farms’ geographical distance, but thanks to new technology, Filipinos now have access to these sweet and chemical- free citrus fruits that are now available

in leading local groceries and supermarkets. There’s simply no denying ourselves of something this good.
