As far as couch potatoes go, very few canines are as perect as the English Bulldog. Sound asleep with a face full of folds lying dead flat on the holding area floor, they’re arguably the most lethargic bunch present at the dog show.
Hidden potential: “They always want to lay down and sleep, but they’re playful. They’re really sweet,” says Bulldog breeder and lover Charles Arboleda, adding that his prized mutts’ exercise routing consists of an occasional five to tenminute walk.
Fun fact: Still, don’t mistake the breed’s sluggishness for an easy, or affordable, ownership experience. Arboleda tells us Bulldogs are high-maintenance, prone to heat strokes, and cost about P100,000 per pup. Lord Seymour, Arboleda’s champion, cost him a whopping P1.2 million to bring home from Spain.
