One Meralco Foundation provides energy to DepEd Schools

-

School children in far-flung towns of Cebu, their parents and their communities have good reason to rejoice - the dark days that have prevented the young populace from acquiring modern-day knowledge and technical know-how, essential to success in this age of technology and digital revolution, are long gone.

Thanks to One Meralco Foundation (OMF), Dep-Ed schools that, for years, had been deprived of electricity finally had been provided electrical connection. Launched in 2012, the school electrification advocacy program, a centerpiece undertaking of OMF, Meralco’s corporate foundation and social development arm, sought to provide remote DepEd schools access to electricity particularly solar power.

To achieve its goal of realizing the potential of Filipino youth by providing them with useful skills they could use to earn their livelihood or to pursue university education, OMF partnered with Schneider Electric Philippines Inc., Meralco Employees’ Fund for Charity, Inc. and SAP consulting firm Netlogic Solutions Asia, Inc. c.

With the electrical connection that allows efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of education, thus empowering our children, the local populace can move forward in unison with global advancement in science and technology and ICT systems.
