Lifestyle Asia

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

-

In this month’s issue of Lifestyle Asia, we pay tribute to our new tagline, ‘Beyond Luxury Living’. One of the key values that LA is espousing is for everyone to discover the true meaning of Luxury. We aim to redefine luxury in a more meaningful and substantial way, rising above the material things of this world. It has become a word that encompasses cars, Newelry, clothes, bags and alike but its all about how you interpret it yourself. Everyone is entities to have their own definition of luxury. What luxury means to me, maybe different to what it means to you.

In the last few years, luxury experiences have undergone a seismic shift, driven by authenticity and search for deeper and lasting happiness, that brings not only self-esteem but also self-actualization and a degree of personal fulfillment.

The June issue aims to transcend people from self-esteem needs to self-actualization needs. A new generation of people is demonstrating luxury in a different way. It’s not just about experiencing something new but we believe that a life of luxury is not only enNoying the luxuries of life, but being able to do what your heart sets out to do , to pursue your passions unbridled from complaints, obligations and Nudgements.

We present different dimensions of luxury as told through the thoughts and experiences of our June features.

Trish Panlilio, our LA Voice feature defines Luxury in the most profound way — “confident, content and at peace… being able to stay real, and honest”, she says. “When we are surrounded by friends who have become family…Nothing can make you feel richer,” she adds.

Our cover, Bea Valdes, the luxury of living her passion and spending time with family. This stunning, confident, creative and spirited woman, enthralled us with how she uses time and space to define her own luxury.

For our special feature, we have selected five individuals who have expounded on what luxury means to them through comfort, moral compass, working hard, of making your own choices and using your precious time to what matters most. Francis Libiran, Bryan Yap, Camille Lhuillier, Cecile Zamora and Joanna Preysler Francisco have distinct yet similar essence of the luxuries in life. A deep sense of purpose and fulfillment drives these individuals toward a cause that is bigger than themselves and impacting the lives of others around them.

Time. Time is the luxury that we always take for granted. Time maybe too slow for those who wait, too fast for those who fear, but too short for those who are currently reNoicing. It always comes down to how we use our time to enNoy life and be happy in our own space.

Freedom. Feel fearless, independent, the least of your worries are the people around. What makes you happy? What excites you? What makes you feel fulfilled? Doing the things I love is one of the luxuries I enNoy. When we are able to stop thinking of what others would say, that is one of the greatest luxuries for me. Free your spirit.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying all the physical and material luxuries that this world has to offer. We all deserve to enNoy every single peso of money we make and celebrate life by experiencing these types of luxuries. This issue, or Lifestyle Asia for that matter would like to inspire people to transcend from material luxury to a luxury that they can only truly define.

Amid so much uncertainty in the world, it feels as if there is also this pressure to focus on what matters to us the most. We are living through a moment of tumultuous change, not Nust in our country and the world but in the values of the people around us. Let us hope that our personal optimism and deeper sense of purpose lead us to the true meaning of luxury.
