LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

-

Visionaries. Many people have the edge to make a difference and the power to actually make things happen. Certainly, there is no shortage of brilliant ideas and doers, only a shortage of visionaries. Visionaries are people who are ahead of their time and are able to envision the future. The ability to think long-term and create a future that is inspiring. This is the type of leader we need. Leaders that are not only inspiring, but also are able to rally the people around them to their vision and execute it with passion.

Time and time again, companies fall because their leaders lack the passion and foresight to take the team to the future and elevate the company to the next level. This occurrence most commonly happens in family-driven companies.

In this month’s issue of Lifestyle Asia, we focus our attention on the new generation of leaders who are playing

a key role in, if not running, their family enterprises. These individuals, in my opinion, are visionaries in their own right. We have seen their determination and commitment to develop the company to something that will withstand the future, constantly innovating and adapting to the times.

The woman of the hour, Congresswoman Camille

Villar, who also is the Managing Director of Vista Land Commercial, among other directorships, is young, charming, and intelligent. I would say that she has it all. But even with all these blessings, she is down to earth and grounded, and has no sense of entitlement. And this is the reason why she is our cover girl for our Business Issue this July. She inherited her passion from his hardworking parents. Exposed at an early age in business and politics, it was clearly in her blood to excel in both areas. There was no pressure from her parents, because these are things that she simply loves and is very happy doing. We are giving everyone the opportunity to know and be inspired by this incredible woman.

We are also featuring seven other inspiring business leaders of their family enterprises that we absolutely admire—Marco Antonio, Victor Consunji, Eric Dee, Xandra Ramos-Padilla, Cristalle Henares-Pitt, Kevin Tan, and Martin Yeung. All of them have remarkable successes to boast and have a lot of lessons to impart. What they all have in common is that all of them worked hard to earn their rightful place in their businesses. Regardless of their advantages early on, they took no shortcuts, persevered, and gained the respect of their colleagues—not because they are sons and daughters of the chairman, but because they deserved it. They understand the value of hard work, integrity, excellence, collaboration, adapting to new technologies and methodologies, and embracing failure and learning from it. These are just some of the values you will learn from their careers. They have definitely inspiring stories to tell. But at the end of it all, it was their parents love, support, and nurturing that became the backbone of their successes. Get to know them as they create their own legacies in the years to come.

Our team is also proud to share that we have gotten a lot of great feedback with our much improved beauty and style sections. Please enjoy reading our July issue and keep living a meaningful life!
