Hair, make-up, and a head-turning gown, are some of the things that may make or break getting ball ready. Some individuals enjoy this process, as it is exciting as much as is going to the ball itself. With the many balls I attend every year, it got me very curious about the different preparations and rituals that these fabulous women go through to look elegant and stylish during a ball. Going to balls is not just expensive but it is also a tedious process. But to some people, it is an effortless transformation of sorts. As long as they look fabulous, right?

Here are some women who we all admire looking at during balls. They are certainly women of great taste, sophistication, elegance, and I must say always-on-point style. Let’s take a glimpse of how these ladies go through their preparations in attending balls.

STEPH KIENLE GONZALEZ

She is one of the most stunning ladies in balls. Like others, she eats clean, exercises regularly, and practices good skincare all the time. It’s a part of her lifestyle already and therefore, it is not that hard for her to prepare for an upcoming ball. She eats clean by eating more plant-based foods and lean protein while avoiding sugar and starch. She goes to the gym near her so it is not a burden to exercise regularly. She combines this with saddle row or yoga from time to time. Skincare is also quite important. She avoids wearing too much make-up during the week and makes sure to clean and moisturize every evening. Of course, occasional facials would really help a lot.

SALOME UY

I guess its genetics. Salome does not diet at all and does not go to a dermatologist. Hair and her outfit is everything for her. Her gown has to be different. She goes against the norms and what is expected. And yes, she does it well. She is always one of the best dressed. “When everyone will be in beaded gowns, I go minimalist. When ballgown is the fad, I wear pants.” She also plays with her looks through her hairstylist friend, Laetitia of Emphasis.

GRACE BAJA

Grace combines a series of preparations. For her diet, she eats clean and healthy at least a week before so she feels lighter and cleaner inside and out. For skin and body, she trusts the Aivee clinic and does Aivee Tempsure to contour her face and Emsculpt to help lose and tighten unwanted fats. She also intensively exercises and goes to the gym and does Pilates three times a week. Lastly, for her gown, she also believes in going with her tried and tested designer, Vania Ramoff, whose designs are very classic and feminine that truly fits her personality.

BENG DEE

Beng also doesn’t diet, as her Instagram handle, is Mrs. Foodee. No exercise, and doesn’t go to the derma. She is very similar to Salome. “I really am more of a DIY, that is how my lifestyle had led me, no choice because I travel a lot too.” Her only ritual is a couple of glasses of bubblies and wine almost every day. And for her “Happiness is the ultimate skincare.” Wow, she truly is blessed.

SUZETTE AYSON

Suzette gets most excited about the jewelry she will wear. “My accessories set the direction I want to go for the rest of my look”. Her process starts with a facial. Of course, you need to have good skin so the make-up will mix well with your skin and look fresh. Nails are a must, and nude nail polish is always safe for her. Eating clean with fruits and vegetables is important combined with a night walk, to ensure that her gown would fit perfectly. On the day of the ball, she wants it stress-free—no meetings and work. She also sets a positive mood throughout the day.

LINDA LEY

The most important thing for Linda is to immediately secure her hair and make-up artist. Then she proceeds on planning her outfit. Linda avoids carbohydrates to prevent being bloated and drinks a lot of water to stay fresh and hydrated. Skin is also very important. Linda is known to have radiant and glowing skin all the time. She does a facial and puts on a mask the night before the ball and on the day itself before having her make-up done. Linda always looks elegant on her gown. She wants it relaxed and comfortable so she can focus on catching-up and bonding with her friends.

JULIE BOSCHI

Similar to Linda, Julie drinks a lot of water and does not eat carbohydrates one week prior to the ball. She is also very particular about her skincare. She cleanses her skin with Bioderma micellar water and moisturizes her skin with Dr. Jart and La Mer. On the day of the vent, she uses a 3-second nano face lifting mask called VXY that miraculously prepares her skin for make-up. For her clothes, she uses her favorite local designers as it ensures her a fantastic gown all the time. But from time to time, she also enjoys using foreign designers especially if she doesn’t have much time before the ball.

CONNIE HAW

Another one who looks fabulous all the time on the red carpet is Connie. She is on a strict diet of eating balanced meals. 1,200 calories per day, a few carbohydrates (like half a cup of rice), 3 matchbox-sized proteins, 1-2 slices of fruit low in sugar, and lots of veggies.

She was on a brink of having diabetes then. Hence, the complete change in her eating habits. From her heaviest at 140lbs, she is now at 120lbs and back to normal BMI levels. Her simple skincare beauty regimen is composed of using sunblock daytime and using La Mer moisturizing cream during the day. In the evening, after cleansing, she uses La Prairie skin caviar night cream. This is her routine for many years, so she has very good skin. Facial treatments also help a lot maintaining her beautiful skin and making her look youthful. No wonder she is always ball ready.
