An epitome of elegant beauty and sophistication, Linda Ley is a well-loved member of Manila’s social set. Ask anybody who went to her milestone birthday party at The Marriott last January 4, the first Saturday of 2020, and you’ll find nothing but kind words and praises. Her goal was short and simple, “It’s my milestone birthday and I want to create something that’s unforgettable.” Known for her

1 classy and chic social events, Linda opted for a disco-themed celebration.

We asked Linda why she chose this theme. She exclaims, “I wanted my guests to feel the vibe of Studio 54 in New York where people go in their fabulous disco attires and party to the max!” True to her vision, the venue was then transformed to exude the feel of the ultraclub scene of the late ’70s with invited guests dressed in flared pants, platform shoes, gold chains, sequins, and rhinestone belts. Others came as iconic personalities of the beloved era.

Aside from the spectacular fashion of the decade, the groovy music brought the house

down straight to funky town with tracks from the heydays of disco fever. After all, good music from the best possible band and DJs is nonnegotiable for Linda when it comes to planning for parties. And to complete the atmosphere, there were disco balls, black couches, ottomans and high tables, an LED dancefloor, goldcolored mini lampshades, and cages where people can go in and dance like before. Inspired by the iconic entrances of discotheques past, a tunnel was also made in the entrance. The creative setup was the brainchild of Teddy Manuel, Linda’s trusted event stylist.

Ever the gracious party hostess, Linda ensured that the evening’s festivities continued nonstop with an overflowing booze setup and a beautiful and intricate dancefloor that got everybody dancing till the end of the evening. Linda has nothing but praises for the Marriott group, “For my birthday which was bigger than I can handle at home, I chose Marriott Hotel for their good food, excellent service, plus very accommodating management.”

Normally, Linda delights in serving her guests here signature home-cooked meals. But as this particular celebration is an extremely special one, a more outstanding venue was more fitting. But regardless of the scale and number of guests, the birthday celebrant enjoys setting up grand fetes such as these. With the success of this marvelous celebration, one can only wonder how Linda will outdo herself in the future. “I’ve achieved my dream setup of a club party because I love to dance,” she says happily. “Next dream set up would probably be another danceable setup.”

Linda, dressed glamorously in a vibrant shade of pink in an ode to famous dancing queens of the 70s, genuinely enjoyed the lively scene—dancing her heart out and singing along to the music. It was a joy to witness how this lovely woman reveled, honored by the large gathering of close friends, family, and well-wishers. The pretty image is not so far from her definition of a meaningful life. “It’s when we are able to share and touch the lives of others. It is then that we will achieve a happy and contented life,” she shares.
