The Filipinos’ craving for Korean cuisine shows no sign of slowing down. And while there are new Korean offerings opening in the metro like flowers in spring, one particular restaurant has caught the eyes, hearts, and stomachs of diners everywhere. Literally translating to “ours” in Korean, Oori is an upscale Korean restaurant located in Sheraton Manila. It features the growing “fine-casual” dining trend with a bibimbap sub-concept catering to fast, easy, comfort Korean food, and a more epicurean grill area featuring premium meats.

At the helm of Oori is Executive Korean Chef Kibum Park. Prior to joining Sheraton Manila, he’s already had seasoned experience in leading Korean restaurants and hotels across Asia. Chef Park sees to it that each dish is created with fresh ingredients, just the way it should be in Korean cooking. This includes fermented items that are carefully handmade and preserved for optimum maturity, and 16 side dishes or banchan to complement their dishes and to provide new flavors to your palate.

CASUAL KOREAN FARE

Reminiscent of walking down the bustling streets of Seoul’s shopping and food district Myeongdong, Oori’s bibimbap sub-concept features crowd-favorite Korean comfort food suited for quick bites. Staple street finds like dakgangjung (Korean fried chicken) is coated in a special sauce prepared by Chef Park; mandu jeongol (pork, kimchi, and Korean dumpling hot pot) serves a tangy kick with each bite; colorful bibimbap bowls are served unmixed on a wooden tray, paired with toppings ranging from beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and yukhoe (marinated beef tartare); an assortment of soft songpyeon rice cakes with flavored fillings are given a refined upgrade at Oori; and towering bowls of bingsu with red bean, mango, chocolate, and assorted fruit toppings provide refreshment while satiating your sweet tooth. Classic dishes like jeyuk bokkeum (stir-fried pork with spicy sauce) and haemul denjang jjigae (seafood with soybean paste) give diners a taste of authentic Korean cuisine.

SAVORY GRILLS FROM SEOUL

Oori’s grilled menu features premium meat selections such as Australian Mulwarra wagyu beef with marble scores of 5+ or 9+ (the highest recognized score), and imported Spanish-branded duroc pork that has the finest fat marbling and lean meat. Each order comes with unlimited servings of five side dishes, assorted vegetables, rice, and soup. Also on Oori’s grill menu are signature Korean plates, soups, hot pots, and stews—all of which are inclusive of sides and rice. Highlights of this menu are Chef Park’s specials like the beef galbi jjim (braised short ribs) and beef bulgogi jeongol (beef and mushroom stew).

Oori is open from 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for the bibimbap selections, while the premium grill menu is available for lunch at 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
