All eyes were on Hoseki Jewelry Art founder Faico when he joined the ranks of British jewelry designer Stephen Webster and mixed metals master David Yurman among the 17 Best Designers in the World by Paspaley Group. As one of the stalwarts of Philippine jewelry design, he has grown the Hoseki brand as a sought-after salon for luxury jewelry pieces with intricate details and innovative designs. With numerous exhibitions in and out of the country, the highly respected virtuoso is joined by yet another heavyweight in jewelry making. Knoi Esmane, who has won 13 international design competitions which include the International South Sea Pearl Jewelry Design Competition (the Oscars of South Sea Pearl design competitions) and the ASEAN Jewelry Design Competition sponsored by the Intellectual Property Office Philippines.
The Hoseki brand takes pride in local engineering and craftsmanship, with all items designed and manufactured in the Philippines. Each glimmering piece is handmade and undergoes a rigorous process of quality checks of more than a hundred hours to ensure their superlative standards. As a testament to their local roots, the house incorporates local endemic materials in its beautiful collections. This serves as part of its green and sustainable initiatives that aid and promote local talent and suppliers.
The premium in each piece lies in a lengthy yet calculated process that ends with the birth of mesmerizing concepts that dazzle and shine. Faico and Knoi Esmane’s design philosophy comes from their many travels across seas and oceans where new gems are discovered and rare materials are found. The challenging task of visualizing
ideas results in hundreds of sketches of which only a few get to see production. Displaying the exquisite masterpieces, a couple of major exhibitions are held every year with mini soirées done periodically. It is part of the regal treatment that the luxury brand is consistent with, pampering patrons and collectors with a first-ever look at their brand new pieces.
Several collections have made remarkable appearances in the brilliant history of Hoseki Jewelry Art: the Eden Collection which is a visual ode to the verdant foliage of the country; the Chinoise Collection which pays tribute to the striking elegance of the Burmese Jade and adorning it with oriental motifs and sentiments; and the Art Nouveau Collection which salutes the eponymous art movement for its contributions in elevating jewelry making into a class of its own. Deep knowledge of the history of the craft has also shed light on many unconventional and almost-forgotten techniques, be it plique-a-jour or cloisonné enameling.
A staunch supporter of the fine arts, the luxury brand has effectively collaborated with many of the country’s most prolific names in its thriving art scene. From contemporary glass sculptor Ramon Orlina to acclaimed visual artists Dominic Rubio and Joe Datuin, these globally renowned artisans have further elevated the esteemed caliber of Hoseki’s craftsmanship. Each thoughtful arrangement and delicate placement is a creative maneuver that produces an incredible iconic piece of jewelry—sought after by the most discerning connoisseurs.
