YOUNG-TORREJON
A Fortuitous Change in Plans
Anthony Young and Erin Torrejon met when during their teenage years. “He’s the first cousin of one of my best friends, Magsy. We met one time when I was hanging out in her house,” says Erin. Together for 13 years, Anthony proposed during their anniversary trip to Japan. “Prior to the trip, my friends were telling me it was possible he would propose, but since he did it on our last day, I already wasn’t expecting it,” says Erin. On their last full day in Tokyo, they visited the Shinjuku Goyen National Garden, and Anthony proposed on one of the bridges.
The wedding was originally going to take place at St. Benedict in Sta. Rosa with the reception at Angelfields, but because of the Taal Volcano explosion, they decided to move venues a month before their chosen date. They had the ceremony at San Pedro Calungsod Parish with the reception at La Veranda, a private home owned by Anthony’s family. “We wanted the wedding to really celebrate our love and to enjoy the celebration with those we love the most, so we tried to make sure that everything really reflected us as a couple and to put as many personal touches as we could,” says Erin.
Despite the change of venue, Erin says that the wedding experience they ended up having was even better than what they had originally planned for. “Since La Veranda is more of a private home than an events venue, we really had to work on a lot of things, but it was more than worth it because we had the wedding of our dreams and so much more,” she says, adding that the wedding was the first ever hosted in that house. “We loved that we still got the wedding we always envisioned—the type that feels like just one big family gathering celebrating our love,” says Erin. Every detail, big and small, captured their essence as a couple. They had a specially curated drink made with their bar captain, Lester. “He created the cocktails based on drinks we enjoy, and we named them after special parts of our relationship,” says Erin. The wedding was worked on very closely with Anthony’s mother and Erin’s mother-in-law Marie. “We were all hands-on with every aspect and chose every part of our big day,” says Erin.
