RENEWED HOPE AND STRENGTH

-

two years have passed and it made us wonder what the future holds. Many lost hope, businesses closed, many lost their jobs, and many lost their loved ones. We are fortunate that we are alive right now and we can reset, refocus, and renew our energy with new beginnings and possibilities. As things get back to normal, we again feel a sense of living life to the fullest. But more than that, how to live a more meaningful life. We have a new President. I’m trying to make sense of everything. I never have imagined in my lifetime that the Marcoses will be back in Malacañang. They say that Filipinos forget easily. I guess that is now the understatement of the century and perhaps of my lifetime. This makes us discern that an informed and educated people is the best guarantee of a working, strong and true democracy.

The reality is, not everyone has something to start with. Not everyone has access to education nor to basic privileges we enjoy. We have to see past that and not be blinded by our privileges and ignore what our fellow countrymen are going through or else they will lose hope. The key is compassion.

Now, I will choose hope. I have faith in humanity and in our future as a nation. I want to look forward and believe that our nation will be great again. The essence of democracy is to listen and respect the will of the majority. And then so be it. This should not stop us from caring, helping, and living the culture of goodness despite this great divide.

I wish and pray that our elected officials, especially our new President will be a true servant leader for the people. It’s now time to heal.

Our June issue focuses on game changers, pioneers, catalysts, and groundbreakers to inspire us and that there is hope in our future. These people will guide us forward into the years to come.

We have Paolo Campos who talks about harnessing the potential of start ups and new business by supporting and backing them. Eric Dee levels up the food industry through innovation and future-proofing.

We have remarkable individuals who are marking a new direction in their lives. Bea Valdes begins a new challenge by being the face of fashion through Vogue Philippines. Tessa Valdes, begins again and goes through a journey of healing.

Our cover personality Heart Ongpauco-escudero, has achieved recognition and success globally. She looks forward to having a baby as she achieves clarity and recenters on what matters most in life.

Our other cover personality is construction magnate Ate Alice Eduardo. “I've always believed that excellence knows no gender,” says Ate Alice Eduardo. She opens up about the challenges she had to go through before finding sweet success as well as all the lessons she learned along the way.

Ate Alice is a woman of steel; not only is she well-respected in her industry as a catalyst and innovator, she is also a well-loved member of the society. Her heart shines gold and her generosity and kindness to the less fortunate is admirable.

This June issue is filled with inspiring individuals in business and in different industries. We hope that by reading their stories, everyone will be inspired and will have renewed hope and strength to look forward to a better future.

Let’s keep the faith.

“Now, I will choose hope— I have faith in humanity and in our future as a nation”
