DigiTech Visayas confab set

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occ. – The first ever DigiTech Visayas: A Conference on Technology in Education is slated on November 14-15 at the University of St. La Salle, La Salle Avenue, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

DigiTech is an event encompassi­ng facets of digital technology for children, schools, libraries and the ICT industry, focusing on new developmen­ts that may be shared in the education sector.

First day speakers and topics include “Growing Up in the 21st Century,” by Early Childhood Education Expert, Ms. Maricar Gustilo-de Ocampo; “Robotics, Advanced Technology & Education: The Future of Learning,” by Ms. Mylene Abiva, President & CEO of Felta Multi-Media, Inc.; “Digital Literacy in the K-12 Classroom,” by Mr. John Arnold Siena, Regional Director of Department of Education Region VI; Technology: Implementi­ng Technology Integratio­n for Teaching and Learning,” by Mr. Dino Danao, Marketing Executive of McGrawHill Education.

Topics and speakers on the second day are “Growing up Wired,” by Dr. Queena Lee-Chua, professor, columnist, and author; “Cyber Wellness and Keeping Kids Safe Online,” by Mr. Sonnie Santos, founder and lead advocate, Web Safety Philippine­s; “Learning at Play,” by Ms. Claudette Tandoc, professor, consultant, and trainor; and “Emerging Instructio­nal Delivery,” by Mr. Rhoderick Samonte Director, Center for External Relations Institute for Negros Developmen­t, University of St. La Salle.

After-lunch workshops on the second day are also available for those who are interested. These workshops include “Creativity in the Classroom,” conducted by Ms. Maricar Gustilo-de Ocampo of Early Childhood Education Expert; “Reimagine Learning: Designing Your Digital Classroom,” conducted Mr. Dino Danao Marketing Executive, McGraw-Hill Education; and “Setting Up Your Own Cyber Wellness Program,” conducted by Mr. Sonnie Santos, Founder and Lead Advocate, Web Safety Philippine­s.
