Iremember as a freshman student of BS Tourism, girls were required to wear black shoes with a minimum of three-inch heels all the time! For a teenager like me who was a little bit excited to grow up (and to dress up), wearing heels wasn’t much of a problem. But my main concern was to look for the perfect pair that was sturdy and comfortable enough to survive walking, running, and tripping on the grounds of a huge campus. And of course, a pair that was stylish enough to somehow attract new friends—as they say, you can judge a person’s personality through the shoes they wear!
To make the long story short, I had quite a hard time looking for a pair I really loved and was about to give up searching when I passed by the Charles & Keith store with its sleek glass façade and clean, white interiors, and my eyes fell upon this pair of black, pointy shoes with velvet details and structured heels. It was love at first sight, one that has continued to this day.
I was all giddy when I was asked to attend the brand’s official launch of their Winter 2014 collection in the Philippines. Held at Crisp on 28th, the intimate gathering was attended by the members of the press, and was graced by Suyen Corporation’s Kristine Lim and Bryan Lim. Charles & Keith’s marketing team, led by brand assistant Kat Redondo and merchandise manager Therese Calma, warmly greeted everyone as they entered the venue and introduced themselves as new members of the Charles & Keith Philippines family—they’ve been around for merely six months.
Crisp on 28th served a sumptuous meal and exclusively curated cocktails by Erwan Heussaff inspired by the themes of the new collection, while handpicked shoes, bags, and purses on display.
For its Winter 2014 collection, the brand drew inspirations from the past and merged it with ideas of the future through the accents and palettes. Divided into six themes: Elemental, a raw and earthy symphony of chunky heeled platforms and low blocks in jewel tones and printed textures; Supersonic, a bold and dynamic take on collegiate athletic-inspired pieces; Perfect Symmetry, a blend of precise contrast in monochrome and color play; Vinture, a set of pumps and purses in pastel metallics; Primordial, earthy tones with a tinge of accent color in sling-back mid-heels and high wedges; and Sheen Fixation, which carries off dominant monochrome or highshine details.
Whether you’re sporty, edgy, or chic, you’ll find something that matches your personality. It’ll be extremely hard to leave the store empty handed as their products come with a reasonable price tag.
