As it turns 160, a watch brand looks back with a fashion-forward collection
Man’s fascination with time has endured throughout the history of civilization. Some makers of timepieces, more than others, have helped maintain that fascination by creating reliable and affordable timepieces. Since 1854, Timex has been producing genuine and classic timepieces, which allow people to express their personality without getting in the way. In an exclusive launch of their 2014 fall-winter collection held at Cav Wine Shop and Café last November 6, the brand’s vice president for Asia Markets Guglielmo Bertani graced the special affair to celebrate with partners and friends of Timex Philippines.
The latest collection features four remarkable lines: Waterbury, Timex 80s, Shock Expedition, and Indiglo. As the current day successor of the renowned Waterbury Clock Company—one of the largest clock producers in the 1800s—Timex is paying tribute to 16 decades of quality timepieces by drawing inspiration from iconic styles in its remarkable archives, thus creating the Waterbury collection.
Timex also reproposes the classic style of the 1980s through a collection that represents modern and contemporary fashion—the Timex 80s. This range comes in classic silver, gold, and black stainless steel retro straps. For adventure seekers, Timex released the new Shock Expedition watches which are shock resistant and are at least 100-meter water resistant.
Last but definitely not the least is the Indiglo collection. Indiglo, a registered trademark of Timex, comes from the word indigo, or the green-blue electroluminescent display for even illumination of the watch dial. The event’s attendees got a chance to see a magical display of this firsthand as the lights were dimmed to show the watches glow.
With a number of watches to choose from, one may have a hard time selecting the best fit. But as a Timex campaign says, “It all boils down to character, and it turns out, you’ve got it. Wear it well.”
