Trillanes turns tables on Tiu

- By CHITO A. CHAVEZ

In response to the case filed by businessman Antonio Tiu, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has filed before a Quezon City court a 6.5- million countersuit against the person he earlier claimed as the dummy of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

The Chan Robles and Associates Law Office which represents Trillanes said the senator suffered sleepless nights, wounded feelings, extreme anxiety, and a slur in his reputation as a result of Tiu’s civil case.

Trillanes is asking for 5 million in moral damages, 1 million in exemplary damages and 500,000 in attorney’s fees.

The countersuit is included in the 29- page answer with motion to dismiss that the senator filed before Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 101 Judge Evangeline Marigomen.

The suit stemmed from the initial 5- million civil case filed by Tiu against the senator for accusing him of being a dummy of Binay.

In his 12- page complaint against Trillanes, Tiu claimed that his business reputation has been severely tarnished by the repeated allegations of the senator that he was a dummy of Binay.

Tiu’s counsels said that Trillanes’ “vicious attacks on and unrelenting harassment of plaintiff has not only besmirched his reputation, but caused him sleepless nights, wounded his feelings, serious anxiety, mental anguish, and social humiliation.”
