Victory Liner trains employees in entrepreneurship

-

Victory Liner, one of the pioneer Northern Luzon bus transit liners, encourages staff and employees to boost their earning potential through entrepreneurship with “Negosyo 101,” a business and skills training program put up for the company by its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, the Doña Marta T. Hernandez Foundation (DMTHF).

One of the foundation’s goals is to provide training programs for employees that can lead to increased motivation and morale while contributing returns to the company through improved employee productivity, according to DMTHF Head Vernie Abcede.

“We believe that developing an effective employee training program is vital to the long- term success of any business,” says Abcede. “With the holidays fast approaching, training programs that offer added income for the household like selling made- toorder goodies and other Christmas gift items is definitely something worth looking at.”

For “Negosyo 101,” the foundation enlisted entrepreneurship expert Jeff Cua to talk about putting up a business that offers a higher return on investment without taking up too much time and effort on the part of employees and their families. Attendees were also taught basic techniques in computing profit margin and mark up.

DMTHF is named after the wife of Jose Isaac Hernandez, the founder and patriarch of Victory Liner. Now on its 17th year, DMTHF continues with its tradition of service, guided by Victory Liner’s line of business—one that connects communities, moves people from one destination to the other safely and comfortably, and improves the lives of its passenger families and the children. Since its inception, the foundation has always focused on programs aimed at creating lasting, positive changes to the lives of the communities it serves, explains Abcede.

“For the rest of 2014 and onward to the next year, we will also be undertaking more projects geared towards education, health and entrepreneurship. We will continue to pursue projects with the goal of providing long- term effects not just for our employees and bus patrons but also for the community beneficiaries that the Victory Liner route serves,” concludes Abcede.
