River Safari

-

It’s one big gigantic aquarium, period. River Safari is Asia’s first and only river-themed wildlife park that can be explored on foot by walking along freshwater aquariums, walk-through exhibits, and on board boat rides. There are two river zones—Rivers of the World and Wild Amazonia. The Rivers of the World will introduce you to nature’s best-known engineers, two beavers named Justin and Selena, known to transform and build their own environment, and whose habitat is the safari’s Mississippi River. Say “ni hao” to giant pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia from the Giant Panda Forest. There, too, are massive exhibits on the Mekong River, River Nile, and Congo River. The Wild Amazonia, on the other hand, will complete your expedition as you journey into the world’s largest river, Amazon River. Hop on board for a 10-minute boat ride and sail close to about 30 fascinating animal species that live along the edges of the river like the jaguar, Brazilian tapir, capybara, and anteater. The Amazon Flooded Forest has the world’s largest freshwater aquarium that exhibits what happens during the annual flooding of the Amazon rainforest. Enjoy the view of majestic animals in residence, like the graceful manatee, striking red-tailed catfish, and the arapaima with its colorful, armor-like scales. This ecological showcase can be seen through underwater viewing galleries at different levels—from the very bottom of the forest floor up to the wa- ter’s surface. After that, you can watch the squirrel monkeys do their monkey business at the Squirrel Monkey Forest, then finally take a delightful River Safari Cruise and enjoy the clear blue skies, lush green forests, and a chance to spot storks, herons, and maybe even Asian elephants, giraffes, and rhinos from a refreshing perspective.
