Cavaliers rally past Celtics
BOSTON (AP) — LeBron James scored a season-high 41 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 19point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Boston Celtics 122-121 in the NBA on Friday.
James made one of two free throws with 36 seconds left to give Cleveland a one-point lead. Kyrie Irving then missed a layup and Avery Bradley rebounded for Boston, which called timeout with 7 seconds to go.
But the Celtics couldn’t get a shot off as Rajon Rondo, who finished with 16 assists, lost control of his dribble near the top of the key just before the final buzzer sounded.
Irving had 27 points and Kevin Love added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who earned their third straight win.
Kelly Olynyk led Boston with a season-high 21 points, and Jared Sullinger and Jeff Green had 19 apiece. PISTONS 96, THUNDER 89, OT
In Oklahoma City, Brandon Jennings scored 25 of his 29 points in the second half and overtime, leading the Detroit past Oklahoma City.
Jennings made a tiebreaking 3-pointer to give the Pistons an 8784 lead with 2:32 left in overtime. He added another 3 while falling to the ground, increasing the advantage to 92-84.
Jeremy Lamb set career highs with 24 points and 10 rebounds for Oklahoma City, which led 48-42 at halftime. Reggie Jackson had 20 points and 12 assists, and Serge Ibaka finished with 19 points and 10 boards.
Jackson missed a 16-foot fadeaway jumper at the buzzer in regulation that would have lifted the Thunder to their first two-game winning streak of the season.
SPURS 93, LAKERS 80 In Los Angeles, Tim Duncan had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Cory Joseph scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as San Antonio beat Los Angeles on one of the worst shooting nights of Kobe Bryant’s 19-year NBA career.
Kawhi Leonard scored 12 points for the defending NBA champions, who added a comfortable win over the 1-8 Lakers to their victories over the Clippers and Warriors earlier in the week.
San Antonio pulled away in the fourth quarter for its eighth win in 11 meetings with the Lakers.
Bryant scored nine points for the Lakers, going 1 for 14 fro the field. The NBA’s leading scorer missed his first 10 shots and all five of his 3-point attempts. PELICANS 139, T’WOLVES 91 In New Orleans, Jrue Holiday missed just one shot while scoring 24 points through three quarters as New Orleans set several offensive team records.
The Pelicans’ 139 point total, 56 made field goals, 66.7 percent shooting and 48-point margin of victory all set new records for a game. Their 15 made 3-pointers tied a club high.
Holiday was 9- of-10 shooting, hitting both 3s he attempted and all four free throws to go with nine assists. Anthony Davis added 22 points in only 27 minutes, and Austin Rivers scored 17.
ROCKETS 88, SIXERS 87 In Houston, James Harden scored 35 points, including an off-balance layup with 9 seconds left, to lead Houston past winless Philadelphia.
The Sixers led by one point before Michael Carter-Williams bounced the ball off his foot and out of bounds to give Houston the ball. Harden powered through the lane to hit the gamewinner.
Philadelphia had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but Carter-Williams missed a jump shot.
JAZZ 102, KNICKS 100 In New York, Trey Burke made a jumper from the corner as time expired to help Utah overcome a 46-point effort from New York’s Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony’s 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left tied it at 100 and lifted the Knicks to the century mark for the first time this season. But Burke caught the
MAGIC 101, BUCKS 85 In Orlando, Florida, Tobias Harris had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead Orlando.
Victor Oladipo returned to Orlando’s lineup as the Magic earned their 17th consecutive home win against Milwaukee. Oladipo, who suffered a facial fracture right before the season started, scored 13 points. ball near the Jazz bench and nailed the jumper for the win. Denver had seven players score in double figures in just its second victory of the season. Aaron Afflalo scored 10 of his 17 points in the first half, and rookie Gary Harris and Wilson Chandler each finished with 13 points.
HORNETS 103, SUNS 95 In Phoenix, Kemba Walker scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half as Charlotte rallied past Phoenix.
Al Jefferson and Gary Neal each had 14 points for the Hornets, who won for the first time in five road games. Lance Stephenson scored 13, and Bismack Biyombo finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
