Ser Chief gets funny

- By MICHAEL JOE T. DELIZO

Even though he looks serious, Richard Yap could also be playful and downright funny.

E ven thoughh he looks serious, Richard Yap could uld also be play- yful and downright t funny.

This is evident in n “The Amazing Pray-ybeyt Benjamin 2,” an n entry to this year’s’ s Metro Manila Film Fes- estival (MMFF).

Whereas he managed ged to hold his own in the movie, Richard also had his share of light moments on set.

“May mga jokes ( din)

tayo na minsan hindi ndi

masyadong wholesome. me.

biruan lang ( sa set),” ,” he said.

Sila ang nauuna, gumagantiaganti lang ako,” he said goodnaturedly.

Richard shared how he tried to strike a balanceance between being serious s and being funny when portraying raying his character in the film, m, military man Wilson Chua.

’Yun ’yung take ko. You just have to watch (the film),” he said.

Richard, fondly known as Ser Chief of the recently concluded “Be“Be

Careful With My Heart,” art,” admitted

the film is his “on- the- he- job training” when it comes to comedy. As such, he relied mainly on

co- stars Vice Ganda da and Alex

Gonzaga to guide him.m.

script, on the top of their head, they could just come up with something funny.

Kaya nape- pressure ako. Medyo tahimik lang

ako, so I’m just trying to learn from them to see how to be a better comedian also, so that I can also contribute to the movie,” he shared.

Also something to watch out for in the film is Kris Aquino’s appearance as Richard’s provocative wife. The two have yet to shoot their scenes together at the time of the press conference.

Asked if he’s ready to be seduced by Kris, Richard said, “Ready naman.”

He was happy to work with Kris’ son, Bimby. “Okay naman siya, he’s very nice. Ta

himik lang siya. Okay naman ’yung mga eksena namin.”

The 47-year- old heartthrob was also thrilled to work with Vice in “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2.” He said he didn’t have to make a lot of adjustments because they have been longtime friends and have worked together

in several concert tours before. At saka ’ pag hindi ano, ayun, tinatapik niya ako,” he workingsaid. “withIt’s veryhim kasinice parati naman kaming magkasama noong nagshow kami sa Europe so we know each other quite well.”

Vice, on his part, disclosed how he was floored by Richard’s sense of humor. The comedian said, “Ang gal

He added, “Sabi ko

According to Vice, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2” is more “special” than its predecessor, “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” because of Richard’s participation.

Other cast members are Eddie Garcia, Tom Rodriguez, Nikki Valdez, Kean Cipriano, Valdolph Quizon, Malou de Guzman, and many more.

The movie opens in theaters on Dec. 25.
