Tagle seeks support for Lenten feeding campaign
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle yesterday called on the faithful to support the Fast2Feed program of Hapag-Asa of the Archdiocese of Manila, which aims to feed hungry and malnourished children.
“If we fast and let the poor, hungry, and undernourished children benefit from it, we relive what Jesus said, ‘I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat,’” Tagle said in a pastoral letter for Ash Wednesday, which will be observed on February 18.
“The beginning of Lent is a reminder to everyone to answer God’s call to pray, fast and do acts of charity,” he added.
The Fast2Feed program is a Lenten campaign of the Archdiocese of Manila that seeks to inspire the faithful to donate the money saved from fasting during Lent to the Hapag-Asa campaign.
Last year, the Fast2Feed campaign was able to feed 150,000 children in the Yolanda- affected areas and some 20,000 children through the six-month HAPAG-ASA feeding program, which provides poor and needy children with nutritious meals, five days a week for six months while their parents are given values education and access to livelihood.
