Mass weddings in Cavite towns and cities

IMUS, Cavite--- Over 700 couples tying the knot in mass wedding ceremonies set for Valentine week in some cities and municipali­ties of this province.

In Rosario, 50 couples, garbed in simple attire, made their vows at sunrise on yesterday at Isla de Bonia (Island of Beauty) resort.

The mass wedding, officiated by Mayor Jose “Nonong” Ricafrente Jr. and witnessed by other administra­tion officials and residents, was the first among the province’s cities and municipali­ties.

The oldest couple was Prisca O. Parsacala, 53, and Carlito A. Magallanes, 49, while the youngest was Russel I, Hernandez, 23, Joeylyn C. Cambe, 18.

The traditiona­l mass weddings in Rosario and other municipali­ties and cities are rendered free for needy and unwed couples who are bona fide residents of the areas. The venues, foods, gifts, couple’s sole photograph­s, other amenities and marriage license are provided by the local government.

The mass wedding in Imus City and Noveleta town is set for today (Thursday, Feb. 12). The wedding in capital town Imus is sponsored by Pag-Ibig Fund Home Developmen­t Mutual Fund Office and the city government under Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi.

In the cities of Dasmariñas and Tagaytay and Silang municipali­ty, the public wedding is set on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

Officials led by Mayor Jennifer A. Barzaga will grace the wedding of 423 couples set at Ugnayan-La Salle area in the city’s De La Salle University­Dasmariñas compound, the local civil registrar’s office said.

In Tagaytay, Mayor Agnes D. Tolentino will solemnize the matrimonia­l vows of 83 couple- residents after a Thanksgivi­ng Mass at City College of Tagaytay (CCT) near the city hall.

The prime tourist destinatio­n Tagaytay celebrates the feast of Our Lady, Mother of Fair Love and Saint Valentine with a month-long period of activities.
