9 rabies deaths reported in Cavite

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite--Nine rabies deaths and 20,418 animal bite cases were recorded in the province in 2014, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported yesterday.

Gov. Jonvic Remulla, Dr.George R. Repique, PHO officer, and Dr. Dominador Borja, provincial veterinary officer, called on the citizens to be aware of rabies and animal bites as they intensifie­d the program that will safeguard children, adults and the elderly against dogs and other animals with rabies.

The officials are taking the lead on the animal bite informatio­n drive yearround, along with city and municipal agricultur­ists, and the provision of free anti- rabies vaccinatio­n for the animals.
