Development of furniture industry in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon- The provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry ( DTI- Quezon) is optimistic about the furniture industry in Quezon following the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines ( CFIP) recent visit here to formulate a Guide Book on the development, acquisition, and proper use of wood to make furniture. Pablito Budoy of the Quezon DTI said that at present, there is a huge demand in the international market of furniture but, he insisted, European Union Timber Regulations do not allow raw materials from illegal logging. He explained that based on EU Timber Regulation and Voluntary Partnership Agreement in a countries with existing timber production could allow to control and give licensed on individual to make them legally able to export timber or timber products that wood comes from legal source.
