KFR leader, wife nabbed in Lucena

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — The No. 4 most wanted person in the National Capital Region (NCR) who allegedly heads a kidnap for ransom (KFR) syndicate was arrested, along with his wife, in this city the other day, police confirmed yesterday.

Senior Superinten­dent Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan, Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, said Resty Tayabas Branzuela, suspected KFR gang leader, was nabbed with his wife Ma. Andrea at a convenienc­e store in Barangay Domoit, here, around 11 a.m. last Wednesday.

The arresting team was led by Inspector Hubert Reuben Jabrica, who said that Branzuela drew suspicion to himself as he had been loitering around the 7-11 Branch since 2 a.m. that day.

Branzuela, based on files of the Philippine National Police, is a 30-yearold native of Tarlac City who goes by the alias “Joseph Licay Carbonel” and leader of the “Ga- Ga Gang” involved not only in kidnapping but also carnapping and robbery in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

The Anti Kidnapping Group (AKG) has listed Branzuela as its No. 3 most wanted man in the country. His wife is also in the AKG’s target list.

Branzuela has a pending warrant of arrest for the case of Kidnapping for Ransom docketed under criminal case no. R-QZN-14-04854-CR on November 27, 2014 issued by Judge Ma. Rita A Bascos-Sarabia of RTC-NCR Branch 99.

The AKG led by Insp. Jonathan Ojano Rabanal and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) led by Insp. Alan Tolentino Dela Cruz arrived at this city’s police station to request the turnover of the suspect.
