Jabidah Massacre, 47 years today
Today, March 18, marks the 47th anniversary of the infamous Jabidah Massacre on Corregidor Island when at least 28 young Moro trainees were liquidated by their military trainors. The commemoration is themed “Balik-tanaw sa Kasaysayan Tungo sa Pagkamit ng Tunay na Kapayapaan.” The historical marker commemorating the Jabidah Massacre and Mindanao Garden of Peace in the massacre’s site will be highlighted “to transform the tragic event into an affirmation of the Philippines’ common history” and in recognition of the “contemporary Moro struggle and unifying call for truth, justice and peace in the country.” The event was organized in an island in Cavite by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Corregidor Foundation (CF), National Historical Commission (NHC), and Anak Mindanao (AMIN).(Edd K.
