Happy birthday, President Fidel V. Ramos!
FORMER President Fidel V. Ramos, the 12th president of the Philippines from 1992 to 1998, is celebrating his 87th birth anniversary on March 18, 2015. During his presidency, he was credited with bringing about technological progress and robust economic growth, marked by influx of local and foreign investments. He promoted people empowerment and global competitiveness.
President Ramos, popularly called “FVR,” is active today in forums and speaking engagements here and abroad, through his Ramos for Peace and Development (RPDev) Foundation, where he shares his thoughts on governance and politics. RPDev is promoting peace and development in the Philippines and in Asia-Pacific.
FVR continues to write books on nation-building, democracy, citizenship, and civil responsibility. Among them are: Wonder of Words: The Timeless Quotes of Fidel V. Ramos and Contemporaries; Best Practices: Teamwork in National Building; The Continuing Revolution: Meeting the Challenges of Development and Poverty Reduction; and Time for Takeoff: The Philippines is Ready for Competitive Performance in Asia-Pacific. To Win the Future was the title of his inaugural address on June 30, 1992.
