Whistleblower claims forging 300,000 signatures in 3 weeks
BULACAN RECALL PETITION
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — The whistleblower who earlier admitted to forging signatures in the recall petition against Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said yesterday that he and six other people allegedly faked the signatures of 300,000 registered voters in a span of three weeks upon the instructions of a lady lawyer.
As of yesterday, the Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) confirmed that more and more Bulakeñyos have come forward with complaints against their names appearing in the recall petition against the governor.
The complaints are being collated by the PPO’s Intelligence Branch and at least eight cases of forgery, falsification of documents and perjury have already been filed before the Bulacan Provincial Prosecutors Office by voters whose names were arbitrarily used in the recall petition.
Meanwhile, “the man with the golden hand,” who admitted to forging signatures on the recall petition, asked to be identified only as “RC” and pointed to a prominent politician in Bulacan as having paid him and six others for the job.
A prominent election officer in Region 3 told the Manila Bulletin that “RC” is from Bicol and had previously earned notoriety for forging signatures as in the recall petition in Bataan several years ago.
“This guy has long been in this kind of illicit trade, for this one have already encountered him personally during the recall election in Bataan,” the election officer, who requested anonymity, said.
Capitol employees and several local officials allied with Gov. Alvarado are asking the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to look into these irregularities before pushing through with the recall process in haste.
