Stevedore slain by gunmen in Quezon

SARIAYA, Quezon — Motorcycleriding gunmen killed a stevedore while reporting for work in Barangay Sampaloc 2 last week here.

Police identified the victim as 47year- old Calixto Panganiban, a resident of Sitio Pook.

Investigation showed that the victim was about to enter the gate of UGAT Crushing plant in Sitio River Control about 9 a.m. Saturday (March 14) when the gunmen arrived.

The back rider shot Panganiban several times and immediately left the area, heading towards Maharlika Highway. The victim died from bullet wounds on his chest, abdomen and lower left armpit.

Police recovered five bullet cartridges of unknown caliber, which were turned- over to the Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (QPCLO) in Camp Nakar, Lucena City for ballistics examination. (Danny J. Estacio)
