TV host Toni Gonzaga has acknowledged the controversy spawned by her seemingly unconventional hosting style at the recent Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant.

“This would be the first and last time I will talk about this kasi noong Sunday (March 15) pa po ito nangyari... Tapos na po ang coronation night and we have declared the winners so there’s no point of looking back and talking about it over and over again, ” she initially said during the press con for “You’re My Boss,” a Star Cinema movie starring herself and Coco Martin. Extending her apologies to “to those who were not pleased” following what she said had become a “national debate,” she continued, “Siyempre po doon po muna sa hindi natuwa at hindi naibigan ang napanood nila noong Sunday, I am humbly... (offering) an apology if I have offended or I have maligned or I have hurt anyone of you.” Noting it was “never my intention (to do any of the above),” Toni revealed, “Prior the show, I was instructed po to make the show fun, light and ease the tension especially during the Q and A portion.”

Despite criticisms she earned for what some people deemed as irreverence, the singer-actress remains grateful for the experience. “Thank very much to the committee of the Bb. Pilipinas for the opportunity to host such a wonderful event kasi first time ko ma- experience ’yung ganoong ka

sayang crowd, ganoong ka- wild na audience,” she said.

She also thanked those who defended her and extended kind words. “(I) really appreciate that from the bottom of my heart.”

She shared that the Bb. Pilipinas committee commended her for the job she did, relating, “Maganda po ’yung sinabi

nila sa akin. Actually, even the Special Events, they texted me very nice and encouraging words and I’m very thankful for that.”

Capping her apology, she said in jest, “And in the spirit

na rin po of beauty pageants, let’s end this issue with world peace.”

“You’re my Boss” is written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone on the heels of the successful “That Thing Called Tadhana.” It tells of an amusing predicament of a toplevel executive and an assistant who will switch roles in a desperate act to close a huge deal. It opens April 4.
