Search is on for lucky Baguio tourists

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio Correspond­ents and Broadcaste­rs Club (BCBC) will pick today the 2015 Lucky Summer Visitor (LSV) from among the thousands of tourists who travelled to the summer capital for the Holy Week.

Dhobie de Guzman, BCBC president said the search will be done along the main highway in Rosario,La Union.

He said public utility buses going to Baguio City will be flagged down by the BCBC search committee who will be joined by the Rosario police force, Highway Patrol Group (HPG), personnel of Land Transporta­tion Office and the Department of Tourism.

De Guzman said that aside from the basic criteria of being first time visitors in the city and Benguet, the BCBC had also come up with an additional criteria which varies every year.

“We hope to get the maximum 6 persons who will be lucky to get a red carpet treat for four days from the Baguio media and the sponsors.”

The LSV search is done in partnershi­p with the city government and local government units of Benguet province.

The LSV program started in the 1970’s with the city government becoming a partner in 1987.

The lucky travelers chosen will get free hotel accommodat­ions, guided tours with full photo and video coverage, courtesy call on officials of LGUs, souvenir items and tours to all destinatio­ns in Baguio and Benguet.

After the activity on Sunday, they also get free ride home.

In a related event, Kennon road, the shortest route to Baguio will only be open to one way traffic from La Union to Baguio City starting midnight of Holy Thursday until Good Friday and only for light vehicles.

Marcos Highway and Naguillan Road will be open to two way traffic.
