Claudine Barretto set for showbiz return; reveals details on recent family reunion
Fans of Claudine Barretto are rejoicing over the actress’ revelation that she’s set to do a movie this year, possibly two.
In an interview on “The Buzz,” she said her film “Pinilit Kong Limutin Ka” will be directed by Wenn Deremas.
“We decided na I should first do movies muna… to test the waters kung may market ka pa, ’di ba? And then, saka na ’yung teleserye,” said she whose last film was “In Your Eyes” in 2010.
Given the chance, Claudine wants to do a film with niece Julia Barretto, citing in particular a remake of her past starrer with the late Rico Yan, “Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita.”
“I told Direk Wenn ( Deramas) and (Star Cinema Head) Tita Malou Santos (that) I would really like Julia to do ’ yung role, ( ko) then, ako si Jaclyn Jose na mas pinalakihan
’yung role.” Claudine also hopes for Julia to reprise her roles in “Saan Ka Man Naroroon” and “Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan.”
Meaningful reunion
Claudine gave more details on what happened when she attended Julia’s debut bash at the Makati Shangri- La Hotel last March 10.
Reports had it for a time that several Barretto family members didn’t see eye to eye on certain matters.
“Si Claudia ang una kong nakita sa
debut. ( Siya) lang ang hindi ko alam ang damdamin to
wards me. Sabi ko
lang, ‘I love you so much and I miss you… Sabi niya, ‘I miss you mama,’” Claudine recalled, noting how she already reunited with Leon, Julia’s youngest brother, who “hugged and kissed” her days prior to the big event.
Claudine shared what transpired when she met Julia’s sister, Danni.
“Nu’ng palabas na ako ng ballroom, somebody hugged me. Nagulat
ako nakita ko si Danni… She didn’t say anything, she just hugged me really tight. And parang du’n naiyak na talaga ako kasi parang nasaktan talaga ako ( sa mga nangyari sa amin),” Claudine said. Danni was supposed to have posted negative messages on social media against her aunt last year. She admitted in a June 2014 interview that she was “angry” at Claudine.
“Masama ang loob (ko kay Danni) after her interview, malaking tampo,” Claudine related. “But then again, I always say na I feel this way because I love her so much. I told her during the party, ‘Don’t let anybody make you think, even for one second na hindi ko kayo mahal, na hindi kita mahal,
Danni. Kasi mahal na mahal kita.’”
As for her sister Marjorie, Claudine described their relationship as “civil.”
“I don’t know kung saan kami ni Marjorie sa relationship namin ngayon. I think it’s safe to say we’re civil. Sa debut ni Julia, sabi niya, ‘ Thank you for coming, it means so much to Julia and to me.’ And then I said, ‘ Thank you for inviting me…’”

na?’ and ‘ What do you want to drink?’ ’ Yun, nakikita mo ulit ’ yung pagka- ate niya. Pero parang natatakot ako mag- dive du’n... kasi baka maulit, baka mawala ulit,” Claudine said. The actress revealed she and Marjorie met for breakfast the following day.
Things falling into place
Claudine's relationship with estranged husband Raymart Santiago is now better.
“We’re very civil. Yes, now we’re talking,” she admitted.
Earlier this month, the two made headlines after Claudine posted on Instagram several photos showing herself, Raymart and their children attending a fun run.
Claudine added, “I actually talked to Raymart, parang kasi napag- usapan namin na
sana, let’s not talk about each other anymore or let’s not accept questions regarding each other kung hindi
maganda ’ yung sasabihin natin. And now, we’re really trying to be talagang good parents for the kids. We failed as husband and wife, but we’re trying not to fail as parents now.”
Asked how she feels about the changes in her life, she said, “Hindi
ko masasabing very, very happy, but I could say that parang there’s a lot of peace now. Mas positive.”
And the lessons she learned from it all?
“Never allow anybody to take advantage of you. You have to be sure that you’re surrounded with real friends and real people.”
