Sta. Lucia expands development in provinces
After a long-running success in residential real estate development in the Metro Manila area, with over 140,000 lots sold in 40 years, Sta. Lucia Group Inc. is set on expanding in the provincial areas, operating on the same objective it has been founded, mainly to provide Filipinos their own homes, and to combat the country’s residential backlog.
“Although the housing backlog is being addressed, it is still not sufficient. We would like to help the country by providing property ownership to Filipinos,” says David Dela Cruz, executive vice president (EVP) of Sta. Lucia Land.
The real estate giant is responsible for the development of the East Manila area, transforming the sleepy and underdeveloped suburbs of Antipolo, Cainta, Taytay, Pasig and Marikina into highly-developed and lively commercial and residential hubs.
More recently, Sta. Lucia has entered into 16 joint venture agreements in Davao, Rizal, Pasig, Laguna and Batangas for the acquisition of land amounting to 34.53 hectares.
Sta. Lucia is upping the ante by developing the countrysides to accommodate residents of a higher market along with a commercial focus. It will also get into a 142-hectare residential and joint venture project where some parts will be earmarked for commercial use by major retail companies.
From up north in Baguio to down south in General Santos City, Sta. Lucia has put up housing, commercial and residential developments. It is in 17 provinces at present and is set to expand to other provinces with over 220 ongoing and finished developments nationwide.
Among Sta. Lucia’s developments outside Metro Manila are Pinewoods in Benguet; Acropolis North, Don Jose de Real, and Lakewood City in Cabanatuan City; Golden Meadows North in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija; Greenwoods North and Greenwoods North Phase 2 and Phase 3 in Gapan, Nueva Ecija. In Central Luzon, they have Vista Verde Royale, Woodside Garden Village Phase 1, 2, and 3 in Urdaneta City; Green Meadows in Panuiqui, Tarlac; Las Haciendas Des Luisita in Tarlac City, Colinas Verdes Phase 1, 2 and 3 in San Jose Del Monte, Cyberville Subdivision, Plaridel Heights and Mira Verde in Guiguinto, Glenwoods North in Sta Maria, La Mirada Royale in Plaridel, etc. In Cavite alone, it has Carmel Heights, Orchard Golf and Country Club, St. Charbel South, in Dasmariñas; La Prairie and Royal Tagaytay in Alfonso; Meadow Wood Executive, and Tierra Verde Townhouse in Bacoor; Metro South Village, Rio de Ora Subdivision, Metropolitan Greens, and Sugarland Estate in General Trias; Mountain Ridge, Soto Grande, Pueblo del Sol, Royal and Villa Chiara in Tagaytay. It also has several projects in Batangas, Quezon, and Laguna.
Sta. Lucia is also present in the Visayas, with projects in Cebu (Crown Heights, Arterra Residences, Sta. Lucia Town Square, Soto Grande, La Mirada Tower, etc.), and Iloilo (Acropolis, Costa del Sol, Centro Verde Residences, Green Meadows).
In Mindanao, it has Alta Monte Davao, Ciudad Verde, Las Palmas Verdes, Rancho Palos Verdes in Davao, South Colinas Verdes in General Santos City, Sarangani.

When I was young, I liked playing basketball. After school, I would play for three to four hours or until the sun set. When I started working, I got into bowling. Right now, I’m into walking. I walk with my wife since it is good for our health. I’m 65 years old now and since I cannot endure very active exercise, walking is the best option. I take long walks twice every week for about three to four hours.
